ALOO TIKKI – CRISPY POTATO PATTY

Preparation time : 30 minutes
Cooking time : 5 minutes for frying a batch of 4 Aloo Tikki
Makes : 12-15 Aloo Tikki

INGREDIENTS :-

  • Potato 1.5 kg
  • Cumin seeds (crushed & roasted) ½ tsp
  • All spice powder ½ tsp
  • Chat masala 1 tsp
  • Coriander seeds (crushed & roasted) 1 tsp
  • Red chili powder ½ tsp
  • Red chili (crushed) ½ tsp
  • Salt 1 tsp or to taste
  • Green chili (chopped) 4-5
  • Cilantro (chopped) 3 tbsp
  • Onion (chopped) 2 medium

FOR COATING :-

  • Sher Besan ½ cup
  • Water as required
  • Breadcrumbs as required

METHOD TO PREPARE :-

Boil the potatoes, peel off skin and mash finely.
Add cumin powder, coriander powder, all spice powder, chat masala, red chili powder, crushed red chili and salt. Mix the spices well into mashed potatoes.
Now add chopped green chilies, cilantro, onion and mix well.
Take Sher Besan and add sufficient water to make a thin slurry for coating.
Grease your hands with cooking oil and make small, round patties of the potato mixture.
Dip the Aloo Tikki in Sher Besan slurry from both sides and roll in breadcrumbs. Dust off the extra crumbs.
Shallow fry the patties in a pan at medium low heat.

SERVING SUGGESTION

Serve hot with sliced tomatoes, iceberg, ketchup, chutney or raita.
